Headstand #2 October 17, 2009 The Waffle House after eating an order of hash browns, scattered, covered, smothered, chunked, diced and topped. Athens, GA.
Impaled by a tree trunk.
This one was kind of uncomfortable. Birmingham, AL.
(Poker players will get this)
So here is the plan... I'm going to put this 40 year old gymnastics habit to good use. Each and every day, for the next year (365 days) I will be posting and chronicling a daily headstand pic, taken in obscure locations and atop random objects to include rooftops, monuments, automobiles, poker tables, landmarks, major intersections and pub stools (one of my all time favorites).
This project will culminate with a self created music video that will be posted on Youtube, entitled "The Headstand Project" This project is designed to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Each of us has been or will be affected in some way by this terrible disease. Any contributions that I can generate will aide in taking a small step in the right direction towards fighting this disease. Every penny will be greatly appreciated. Together, we can make a difference, one headstand at a time.
My hope is that my viewers will enjoy the daily headstand picture postings, make a small donation to the charity along the way and tell others about the project by sharing the blog link with as many people as possible. A simple broadcast email to your address book contacts or Facebook friends will get the ball rolling and together, we can all do something to help others.
Your thoughts, request and ideas for locations are highly encouraged. I like a bit of danger so the more challenging the better. Keep in mind that I am approaching the ripe old age of 54 and no guy or girl with any sense should be doing these kinds of stunts but every attempt will be made to accommodate your requests.
Advertisers are encouraged to purchase space on my site. We are expecting a large volume of traffic throughout the next year, ensuring high visibility and great return on your advertising dollars. This should be a lot of fun and I look forward to the next year. 100% of all revenue and advertising fees will go directly to the American Cancer Society.

Greatly Appreciated Joy!
ReplyDeleteScott, this is such a unique way to grab attention for a good cause and it is perfectly you. I know Lucy is laughing and loving it! Love you, Mary
ReplyDeleteScott, what a great thing! Anntoinette & I are active in supporting cancer research after our own brush with the terrible disease and absolutely LOVE your project. We'll double our efforts. And, I'll put out the word to our local West Point Society in Tallahasse, (http://fl8.westpointaog.com. Amigos y hermanos, Proud & Great '78! -- David Rich
ReplyDeleteScott - sorry to hear about your mom. Your project is a great idea - passed on your website to some of my classmates including Sam C. and Billy W., who are sitting next to Arnie in your floor routine photo; suspect most of us will make a donation. Remember, a gymnast never dies; just can't remount in 30 seconds. Cheers, Bob Caliva '79
ReplyDeleteBob and Rich...So great hearing from you guys and thanks so much for the support,

Scott, I really appreciate your effort. My mom has survived two bouts with canceer and my younger sister has (we hope) defeated breast cancer. I don't know if you are retired yet but have you thought about a national headstand project. You could visit sights around the country and stay with classmates (and let them get sponsors) along the way. I am sure we have almost every state covered. I was thinking about places of a National or Military significance or classmates favorite local spot. You might be able to get some great publicity along the way and culminate with the Headstand at Woops. Randy Henson randman78@yahoo.com
